When in Bassano you may be interested in taking a short 11 km drive to the Bassano Dam, at the Horseshoe Bend of the Bow River, one of the most important structures of its kind in the world due to its composite character (the spillway and earthen embankment)), as well as the spillway's length, foundation and depth of water which could flow over the crest during flood periods.  There is also a picnic area where you can enjoy your lunch while overlooking the beautiful scenery.
